John Ellor Taylor (1837-1895)
Flowers: Their Origin, Shapes, Perfumes and Colours

J.E. Taylor was a botanist and geologist. From 1872 to 1893, he served as curator of the Ipswich Museum, which was devoted to history, culture, and natural history. Taylor introduced geological history to the museum. His great contributions were in the area of public education on things scientific as well as the founding of at least 2 local scientific associations. Taylor's Flowers contains over 160 woodcuts, two of which are seen below.
