Discovering the Plants of the Americas: The Record in Print
February 1 through April 16, 2010
The Lloyd Library and Museum is proud to present this complementary exhibit to Krohn Conservatory's exhibit "Discovering the Plants of the Americas." While Krohn's exhibit recreates plant communities and introduces visitors to the botanical explorers of North, Central, and South America, Lloyd's exhibit examines the historical printed record created by these explorers and puts them into context with their contemporaries. The exhibit features the explorations of Lewis and Clark, Alexander Humboldt and Aimé Bonpland, John Charles Frémont, David Douglas, George Washington Carver, and E. Lucy Braun. In addition, information can be found on the first discoverers of American plants, the Native Americans.
